Rasmus Hojlund continues to have a disappointing performance

In the recent match in San Sebastian, although Manchester United only had a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, attention was still focused on young striker Rasmus Hojlund. The 22-year-old has gone 19 consecutive matches without scoring, but his performance against Sociedad showed many positive signs.

Recently, legend Gary Neville expressed concern about Hojlund's form after the defeat against Fulham. Under pressure from fans and experts, Hojlund needs to find his scoring touch again. The match against Real Sociedad is not only an opportunity for him to shine but also an important psychological test.

Although he did not show his ability to score, Hojlund caused many difficulties for the opponent's defense. His smart movements and speed put his teammates in dangerous situations, although in the end, no goals were scored.

Manchester United opened the scoring when Joshua Zirkzee scored his first European goal thanks to a clever pass from Alejandro Garnacho. Hojlund had missed a golden chance to score earlier, adding to the Dane's frustrations in the current campaign.

Although he didn't score, Hojlund's efforts were commendable. He repeatedly found ways to escape the Sociedad defence to create chances, even at one point getting angry with Diogo Dalot for not receiving the necessary pass in the box.

Hojlund and Dalot continue to be criticised

One of the notable moments in the first half was when Hojlund lost his temper with Dalot. After beating his defender, Hojlund looked for a simple pass into the box, but Dalot chose to play the ball in a different direction and passed it back. Journalist Laurie Whitwell described the situation on social network X: “Hojlund was mad that Dalot didn’t pass the ball to him when he had the chance in that attack. That’s right.”

Former Manchester United player Paul Scholes also did not hesitate to criticize Dalot’s decision as “unacceptable”. Many believe that if Dalot had made the right pass, United could have had a bigger advantage.

After the match, Zirkzee shared that Manchester United created enough chances to win, but the lack of confidence in the attack was clearly an obstacle. Hojlund did not have many big chances, which increased the pressure on his shoulders.

Here are some of Hojlund’s stats from the Real Sociedad draw:

Despite this, Hojlund showed positive signs. He completed three key passes in the match, showing that his ball-handling ability is getting better than before. However, the player is still struggling to win duels, with only one victory in seven matches against Sociedad.

The draw with Real Sociedad can be considered a step forward for Rasmus Hojlund, although he has yet to score. With pressure from the public and expectations from the fans, it is hoped that in the coming time, the Dane will be able to explode and find his scoring instinct again.

Although Hojlund is still in a long drought of goals, his performance against Sociedad showed progress and untapped potential. With the support of his teammates and patience from the fans, Rasmus Hojlund is likely to find the light in his journey soon.
