Manchester United are looking for quality strikers: Who are the two standout players?

Manchester United are facing a big challenge in finding a quality striker in the summer transfer window of 2025. In the context of Rasmus Hojlund not showing the expected form, the Red Devils have aimed at many targets, most notably Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

Hojlund Really Needs a Support Force

Ruben Amorim, the coach of Manchester United, did not hesitate to point out that the current team has not supported Rasmus Hojlund, the main striker but still very young. In a press conference before the match against Ipswich Town, Amorim frankly shared: "I think this is very clear, we - as a team - have not supported Hojlund well enough. We did not create many chances." He commented that the lack of sharpness in the attacking play makes it difficult for Hojlund to score as well as choose effective positions on the field.

Amorim points out that for Hojlund to reach his full potential, improvements need to be made in the team's play. "If we improve the way we play, he will have more chances to score goals," he said. Hojlund joined Manchester United at a young age and being forced to assume the No. 9 role at such a young age is a big challenge.

Hojlund sometimes makes poor movement choices, mainly due to the pressure of wanting to touch the ball. This leads to him moving away from goal, where he should be to maximise his goalscoring ability. However, Amorim insists that Hojlund has good finishing ability and if the team improves, the young talent will improve as well.

Amorim also mentions the pressure from social media, which can affect players' psychology and make them less confident. In this situation, he gave the opportunity to young talent Chido Obi, however, the 17-year-old player still lacks experience and cannot take on the role of a striker.

The Osimhen Deal Causes Controversy

Victor Osimhen, a star of Napoli, has emerged as one of the top choices for the striker position of Manchester United. This season, he has scored 20 goals and can make a clear difference to the team. However, the recruitment of Osimhen has caused controversy because it is not in line with the transfer policy of INEOS, the group that manages Manchester United.

According to information from journalist Christopher Michel, Osimhen is not the top priority of the Red Devils. This deal is too expensive, expected to cost around 58 million pounds, not to mention the sky-high salary that the Nigerian striker demands. This is the kind of spending that INEOS is reluctant to do, preferring to invest in young, promising players rather than expensive stars.

Viktor Gyokeres: The Optimal Solution For Man United

While Victor Osimhen could provide an immediate upgrade to Manchester United's attack, the club are also considering other options. Viktor Gyokeres, who currently plays for Sporting Lisbon, has emerged as a more affordable option.

Gyokeres, born in 1998, has quickly established himself as one of Europe's top strikers since moving to the Jose Alvalade. This season, he has been in impressive form, scoring consistently and attracting interest from many big clubs. He possesses speed, stamina and a versatile finishing ability, making him a player who could help Manchester United improve their scoring efficiency.

Manchester United's signing of Gyokeres not only strengthens the team's attack but also builds a solid foundation for the future. In the context of an unstable attack, finding a striker with the ability to score goals regularly is essential.
