Manchester United is willing to exchange Rasmus Hojlund to get Victor Osimhen at the end of the loan contract in Galatasaray

Manchester United are planning to include Rasmus Hojlund in a swap deal to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window. The Nigerian striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has scored 20 goals in 27 games in all competitions, attracting interest from the Manchester club.

Osimhen Returns to Napoli and Price

Victor Osimhen will return to Napoli in the summer and the Serie A club are prepared to let him go if an offer meets his €75m (£62m/$78m) release clause. According to Calciomercato.com, Manchester United are closely studying the possibility of signing Osimhen as new manager Ruben Amorim looks to bolster his attack ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Swap Plan

Despite their desire to sign Osimhen, Manchester United are not prepared to pay Napoli's full release clause. Instead, they are expected to propose a swap deal that would include around €40m (£33m/$41m) in cash along with Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund Struggles at Old Trafford

Hojlund has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, scoring just two Premier League goals, the last of which came on 7 December against Nottingham Forest. The Dane's poor form has led to doubts over his ability at the club, and there have been signs that he could be heading back to Serie A.

The striker expressed frustration in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Everton, where United scored both goals after Hojlund was replaced by 17-year-old Chido Obi. The Manchester Evening News reports that the coaching staff are losing patience with Hojlund, who has gone a long time without scoring since joining from Atalanta for £72 million ($91 million) in 2023.

Criticism and Hope

It has been reported that a member of Ruben Amorim's coaching staff was "particularly critical" of Hojlund's poor performance in the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham earlier this month. However, the coaches are also trying to motivate him in training, hoping that Hojlund will regain his form. His most recent goal came in a 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on December 12.

In short, Manchester United are preparing for a big summer move with the aim of signing Victor Osimhen in a swap deal with Rasmus Hojlund.
